Accountabilities of the Governance and Assurance Manager
1. Act as SME for assurance matters for ISO and/or other standards relevant to the business and for other business management change initiatives.
2. Promote a positive and innovative assurance culture, seeking and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and engaging with business management to ensure lessons learned are understood and embedded.
3. Plan and Lead Assurance evaluations/audits/facility reviews/investigations – participate and when required, lead, in these types of internal assessment so as to assist management with promoting and developing continuous improvement of the local control systems in the business, the QinetiQs Project Lifecycle Framework and the wider QinetiQ Business Management System.
4. Provide support to all areas of the business in attaining new certifications as required by business need in consultation with the Head of the Operating Framework.
5. Raise competency of individuals through training, mentoring or coaching.
This role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, hybrid working at our Farnborough site.
Essential experience of the Governance and Assurance Manager
6. Strong understanding of the IIAs 3 Lines Model and assurance models in different Sectors and Industries.
7. The ability to promote and deliver a culture of continuous improvement.
8. The ability to identify problem areas in the business and take remedial action in a flexible, supportive and pro-active manner.
9. Good interpersonal communication, influencing, coaching techniques, backed up with excellent leadership and written skills; building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
10. The ability to think creatively and exercise sound judgement in advising on audit/evaluation findings.
11. Proven track record in evaluation and assurance.
12. A strong ‘people person’, with the ability to work with and influence many different people.
13. Ability to challenge and question people, process and systems in a direct but non-offensive and tactful manner.
Qualifications for the Governance and Assurance Manager
14. Extensive experience in a similar role or a good first (or higher level degree)
15. Training relating to Quality assurance, Audit or Evaluation
