The Role
As Chief Technologist, you will be instrumental in defining the future direction of ISTAR and Cyber capabilities. Your core responsibility is to deliver high-level technical leadership across all programmes and initiatives, ensuring the adoption of cutting-edge technologies that effectively solve our customers’ most complex challenges 
Day-to-day, strategize and horizon scan, to ensure we are always suggesting and implementing cutting-edge ISTAR and Cyber technology strategies for our customers.
 1. Support Business Development, contributing to bid and proposal activities with compelling technical solutions, while fostering collaborative relationships with customer teams. 
 2. Lead Technical Strategy across ISTAR and Cyber campaigns, driving innovation and overseeing the implementation of advanced solutions that align with business objectives.
 3. Champion Technology Innovation, conducting horizon scanning to identify emerging trends and establishing a pipeline for new technology adoption aligned to strategic goals.
 4. Provide Expert Guidance to engineering teams, leveraging deep domain knowledge to mentor and support the delivery of robust, fit-for-purpose technical designs.
 5. Represent Babcock as a Thought Leader, participating in industry working groups and building strategic partnerships with SMEs and suppliers to enhance our technical reputation and ecosystem.
This role is full time 37 hours per week and is based on site at Ashchurch site. We are open to discussing hybrid working arrangements for the right candidate.
Essential experience of the Chief Technologist 
 6. Strong background in technology innovation, including horizon scanning, emerging tech evaluation, and aligning new technologies with strategic business goals.
 7. Proven leadership in technical strategy development and implementation, particularly within ISTAR and Cyber domains.
 8. Track record of contributing to successful business development efforts, including technical input into bids, proposals, and customer engagement.

 10. Extensive experience guiding engineering teams, providing technical mentorship and ensuring delivery of high-quality, fit-for-purpose solutions.
 11. emonstrated ability to represent an organisation externally, including participation in industry technical working groups and building strategic supplier relationships.
