Our client specialist SEND school in Wakefield is seeking a skilled and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (Level 3) / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its dedicated team.

This maintained special school supports pupils with moderate and severe learning difficulties across a main site and satellite provision. About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant (Level 3) / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will support pupils, teachers, and the wider school community. Working under the professional direction of qualified teachers, you will also have opportunities to take whole‑class responsibility when required.
Key Responsibilities
Delivering learning activities to individuals, small groups, or whole classesSupporting the implementation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)Monitoring and assessing pupil progressCreating a positive, structured, and supportive learning environmentProviding guidance and support to other staff in your areas of expertiseSupporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and independenceSupervising pupils during trips, enrichment activities, and off‑site learningBuilding trusting, stable relationships using clear, calm, and consistent communicationAbout You
The ideal candidate:
holds NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent experiencehas experience supporting children with SENDcommunicates clearly and confidently, adapting language to meet individual needscan work independently and take whole‑class responsibility when requireddemonstrates patience, emotional intelligence, and a nurturing approachbuilds positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues, and external professionalsmaintains professionalism, confidentiality, and high standards of careWhat We Offer
