The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to join our client's dynamic team. You will be responsible for defining and distributing the scope of work to ensure project safety, timeliness, and quality.
The role
As the Senior/Principal EC&I Engineer, you will deliver design and engineering to meet technical specifications. This role is outside IR35, pending a full status determination assessment.
Duration: 12 months +
Location: Didcot, with remote work and occasional site visits
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
* Developing designs to satisfy technical specifications.
* Producing design deliverables throughout the project.
* Checking and approving discipline-specific design outputs.
* Contributing to design and safety reviews.
* Ensuring quality and timely delivery of documentation.
* Ensuring compliance with safety legislation and regulations.
* Developing cost-effective technical solutions.
* Staff development and management of contractors.
* Providing technical consultancy.
Qualifications & experience
* Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or demonstrable experience.
* Chartership in a relevant engineering institution or working towards it.
* Strong understanding of your engineering discipline fundamentals.
* Current SC Security Clearance.
* Experience in two or more EC&I areas such as Mechanical Handling, Process Instrumentation, Functional Safety, Machinery Safety, LV Distribution Systems, or nuclear industry experience.
* Understanding of client processes, successful design delivery, and safety case support.
* Knowledge of safety legislation and statutory regulations.
* Strong organizational, interpersonal, and commercial skills.
* Experience leading design teams and managing sub-contracts.
Additional desirable skills
* Full membership of a discipline-specific engineering institution.
* Understanding of DARs and EC&I design integration with control systems.
* Experience with design substantiation, bid preparation.
Role setting and safety
Risks include nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals, high voltage, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high-pressure systems, steam, noise, and vibration. Full site induction and safety compliance are mandatory.
