We are looking for an experienced medical secretary to join the busy Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at Colchester Hospital.
You should have excellent communication, administrative, and organisational skills, and be able to produce accurate audio typing and reports, as well as respond to ad hoc queries and deadlines effectively.

This role is a Fixed Term/Secondment until July 2026, covering Maternity Leave.
1. Audio typing of clinic letters using the digital dictation system and reports using Microsoft Word within agreed timescales. In the absence of the Consultant, ensuring these letters are sent out promptly and reach the correct destination.
2. Coordinate administrative functions related to patient admissions, ensuring waiting lists are up to date and theatre lists are fully utilised.
3. Add patients to relevant inpatient and day-case waiting lists on the Patient Administration System, planning and maintaining the waiting list according to Trust policies.
4. Manage and validate patients' 18-week Referral to Treatment pathways in collaboration with the Operations Coordinator and validation team.
