Find out more and .**Your Opportunity**The (DAYS) provides a safe and supportive 3-month short-stay residential program for up to eight young people aged 12–21 years. The program helps young people manage their withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs and/or take time out from challenging environmental influences and pressures. During their stay, young people are supported through a daily structured program and have access to clinical psychology, medical care, mentoring, and case management.Based at DAYS Carlisle, your role as a Residential Youth Worker is to actively engage young people, supporting them as they progress through the program. You will play a central role in teaching life skills, encouraging positive coping strategies, and contributing to long-term wellbeing within a trauma-informed, strength-based, and client-centred approach.*This position operates on a 24/7 rotating roster, requiring flexibility to work a combination of day and night 8-hour shifts.***Your Key Responsibilities*** Induct young people into the service, ensuring they understand their rights, responsibilities, and program expectations.* Develop positive and professional relationships with young people while maintaining clear boundaries of care practice.* Support young people in understanding their behaviours, developing beneficial coping strategies, and working towards their goals.* Provide practical assistance with daily activities, including meal preparation, personal care, hygiene, and self-administration of medication in line with policies and procedures.* Participate in case planning and case conferences alongside the Case Manager to monitor client progress.* Ensure a safe and secure environment that upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.* Manage crisis situations, applying Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) strategies to de-escalate behaviours and provide appropriate support.* Facilitate educational groups, life skills programs, and recreational activities to enhance young people's development.**Requirements for Success*** A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare/Social Science or a Certificate IV in Community Services (or equivalent) with two years’ relevant experience.* Demonstrated experience working with youth at risk with complex needs, including AOD issues, trauma, homelessness, mental health, and family violence.* Understanding of adolescent development and behaviour management, with the ability to set appropriate boundaries.* Knowledge of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and commitment to child safety policies and practices.* Completion (or willingness to complete) Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training within 12 months of employment.* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage young people and collaborate with stakeholders.* Ability to work independently and collaboratively, using initiative to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.* First Aid & CPR Certification.* Full driver licence with no restrictionsBefore starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.**Your Benefits**To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:* Make a meaningful difference to the lives of Australians in need* Free external, confidential counselling and access to .* Volunteering opportunities**Our Culture**Our innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.
