Job Description
We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and proactive caretaker to join our dedicated team and take responsibility for the day-to-day management and maintenance of our school premises. This is a key role in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the principal key holder, with responsibility for securing and opening the school site daily.
* Manage the premises to ensure full compliance with health and safety, fire safety, and site regulations.
* Conduct routine checks and inspections across the site, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
* Carry out general repairs, maintenance, and minor improvement works — a good level of handyman skills is essential.
* Provide porterage duties and support for events, including setup and logistics.
* Monitor and manage security systems, alarms, and heating systems (or be willing to undertake relevant training).
* Work closely with school leadership and external contractors to ensure all facilities are well-maintained and operational.

Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have experience in a similar premises or caretaking role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
* Be knowledgeable about health & safety legislation and fire safety procedures (training available if required).
* Demonstrate good ICT skills, including basic email and system reporting.
* Be organised, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with strong time management skills.
* Be adaptable, flexible, and willing to take on a variety of practical tasks.
* Have excellent interpersonal and customer care skills with a professional, can-do attitude.
* Be a team motivator who contributes positively to school life and operations.
