Position Purpose
The Veterinary Technician provides excellent veterinary care and customer service at our Vetco Total Care hospital. They embody our mission and values, support the technical and customer support team, and foster a cohesive, motivated environment.
Essential Job Functions
* Greet clients and patients, record vital signs, and document patient history in the electronic medical record.
* Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgeries, dentistry, and euthanasia, under supervision.
* Perform restraint, handle lab samples, dispense medications, and maintain records.
* Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, and manage inventory and accounts.
* Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and assist with recovery and discharge.
* Administer treatments, keep patients comfortable, and support walking dogs for elimination.
* Train new staff and share knowledge.
* Maintain a clean hospital environment.
Other Duties
* Perform additional tasks as needed.
* Support front desk and phone duties when required.
Supervision and Environment
The technician works under supervision from veterinarians and the Hospital Manager, in a hospital environment requiring physical activity and client interaction.
Qualifications
* Credentialed Veterinary Technician with college education.
* At least 1-year experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented.
* Proficient with phone and computer systems.
Work Environment
Primarily in the hospital, involving physical activity and client contact.
