Job Title: Shift Leader at One Stop
We are seeking a dedicated Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. This role involves working in a dynamic retail environment where each day presents new challenges and opportunities.
Your responsibilities include managing store activities during shifts, leading a team to maintain a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations, and continuously seeking ways to enhance service quality through coaching and feedback.
You will need a strong understanding of store performance metrics and the ability to implement practical improvements. Ensuring a safe environment for both staff and customers is paramount.
Key Responsibilities
1. Coordinate team efforts to provide the best shopping experience in the community.
2. Manage opening and closing procedures, ensuring decisions prioritize customer satisfaction and safety.
3. Act as the point of contact for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager.
4. Support the Store Manager in organizing seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
5. Maintain store cleanliness and presentation standards.
6. Prioritize replenishment of key products based on customer needs.
7. Ensure accurate pricing and signage reflect best practices.
8. Address overcharges promptly and prevent recurrence.
9. Manage queues proactively to enhance customer experience.
10. Oversee staff scheduling, breaks, and daily priorities.
11. Stay informed about store operations and lead practical improvements.
12. Adhere to health and safety routines and promote compliance among colleagues.
13. Communicate effectively with the team to keep everyone informed.
14. Identify operational efficiencies and share ideas with the Store Manager.
15. Maintain a customer-first approach, resolving queries and personalizing service.
16. Recognize and celebrate colleagues providing excellent service.
17. Identify and remove obstacles to delivering great service.
18. Handle colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalate as needed.
19. Ensure appropriate staffing levels, managing short-term absences and sickness.
20. Act as a Keyholder, participating in alarm call-outs to ensure safety and security.
21. Monitor and act on internal communications promptly.
22. Balance service and replenishment duties effectively.
23. Support the Store Manager in managing staff absence and conducting return-to-work interviews.
24. Build strong relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, escalating issues and seeking coaching opportunities.
25. If applicable, manage Post Office Local operations, including passing background checks for financial and criminal records.
