We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of multiple school catering locations, ensuring the safe and consistent delivery of our food service.
You will lead your teams to deliver and exceed operational budgets and KPIs, while embedding the highest standards of compliance, safety and service quality.
Location: Primarily based on school sites across West Sussex, with occasional travel to Weybridge and London (E14 9SH), and some remote working
Job Description
We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of multiple school catering locations, ensuring the safe and consistent delivery of our food service.
You will lead your teams to deliver and exceed operational budgets and KPIs, while embedding the highest standards of compliance, safety and service quality.
Key Responsibilities
* Take personal responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others, creating a culture of safety excellence.
* Own and manage any health, safety or food safety issues identified through audits, inspections or events, ensuring effective improvements.
* Ensure full team compliance with Food Policies, including cultural, religious, ethnic, allergy and special diet requirements.
* Work with peers, customers and internal performance teams to develop menus based on operational and customer feedback.
* Maintain full knowledge of tender proposals and contracts, ensuring all commitments and promises are delivered.
* Build and maintain positive client relationships, attending scheduled meetings and managing agreed outcomes.
* Proactively plan succession, support staff progression and uphold all HR policies and procedures.
* Develop and implement operational improvements to drive standards, performance and consistency across all sites.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
* Level 3 (or above) Food Safety Certificate and Intermediate Health & Safety qualification.
* Experience at Area Manager level in the food or hospitality sector, ideally with school catering and multi-site management.
* Proven experience managing a full Profit & Loss account.
* Excellent presentation and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, using initiative to solve problems effectively.
* Demonstrated ability to manage, lead and motivate teams.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Solid financial and commercial acumen.
* Must hold UK driving licence - for travel.
