We are looking for an Accountant ( Accounts Assistant / Accounts Senior) to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with practice experience who is self-motivated, detail-focused, and keen to develop their skills within a friendly, open-plan office. We welcome applications from AAT/ACCA qualified candidates or those currently studying towards AAT/ACCA.
Key responsibilities
* Preparation (or review of) accounts for small, limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships from original records or software. Submission to partners for review.
* Preparation of basic Corporation Tax computations.
* Preparation of personal tax returns
* Review bookkeeping completed by other staff members and assist with VAT returns and queries.
* Provide support to clients with the transition to software in preparation for Making Tax Digital.
* Support clients with cloud-based software to maintain accurate client records
* Liaise with clients to obtain information and respond to routine queries
* Provide general administrative and team support to help meet deadlines
Skills and experience
Essential
* Previous experience in an accountancy practice.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Good organisational and time-management skills
* Clear and professional communication skills
* Enjoy building and maintaining relationships with clients
* Willingness to learn and develop professionally
Desirable
* AAT or ACCA qualified, or studying towards AAT / ACCA (or equivalent)
* Experience using cloud based software, particularly Xero but also Quickbooks and Sage
* Exposure to accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT returns
* Understanding of the main principles within FRS102
* Working knowledge of Excel and Word
