Job summary

Applications are invited for the full time post of Locum Consultant in Benign Upper GI and Emergency General Surgery based within the Division of Surgery at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS FT.

It is initially a 6-month post but there may be the possibility of an extension. We are one of the UK's leading Upper GI centres with an international reputation for healthcare research. This post is designed to support the delivery of the specialist benign UGI and Emergency General Surgery service.

Main duties of the job

It is expected that the successful appointee will have a particular interest in benign Upper GI Surgery. The post-holder will also have responsibilities to develop and contribute to continuing education, professional development, audit and research within the Division and Trust.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential
* Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview)
* Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or evidence of within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview
* Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons

* Additional Postgraduate qualification
* Higher Degree (i.e. MD or PhD)
* JAG accreditation for Upper GI Endoscopy

* Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in general surgery.
* Two years of higher surgical training in benign Upper GI and EGS
