Year 6 teacher

The role

Job Description

Are you a Year 6 teacher who enjoys the challenge and reward of guiding pupils through their final year of primary school, but would welcome a role with greater flexibility?

Protocol Education is looking for confident and experienced KS2 teachers to support Year 6 classes across local primary schools through supply and PPA cover opportunities.

These roles allow you to focus on what you do best—helping pupils succeed—without the full responsibilities that come with a permanent class teacher position. Just purposeful teaching, focused learners, and the flexibility to create a working pattern that suits you.

Why Year 6?

Year 6 is a pivotal stage in a child's education. Pupils are preparing for SATs, developing independence, and getting ready for the transition to secondary school. The right teacher can make a lasting impact by building confidence, resilience and a sense of achievement during this important year.

If you enjoy stepping into a classroom, quickly building positive relationships and helping pupils stay motivated and engaged, supply teaching could be an excellent fit.

Whether you're looking for regular weekly cover, short-term placements or flexible day-to-day work, we'll help you find opportunities that work around your lifestyle and commitments.

Because experienced teachers deserve flexibility without compromising on doing the job they love.

Why Choose Protocol Education?

We work closely with local schools seeking experienced Year 6 teachers who can confidently step in and keep learning moving forward.

Flexible work to suit your schedule and commitments

Opportunities to support Year 6 pupils during key points of the academic year

Competitive daily rates, paid weekly through PAYE

Access to welcoming local schools where your KS2 expertise is valued

A dedicated consultant who understands the demands of upper KS2 and SATs preparation

Simple booking and compliance processes with minimal administration

£250 refer-a-friend bonus for recommending a teacher or teaching assistant

  • Confidence delivering the Year 6 curriculum and supporting SATs preparation
  • The ability to quickly establish positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Excellent organisational skills and a calm, adaptable approach
  • A genuine passion for helping pupils achieve their potential
