Electrical Specialist - £52,000 pension life assurance progression pathways A leading facilities services provider is seeking a Technical Specialist (Electrical) to join their on-site team at a high-profile, technically complex research and development facility in Cambridge. This role is ideal for a seasoned electrical professional with a strong compliance background and a desire to work in a dynamic, critical environment. As the Technical Specialist, you will work closely with the Technical Compliance Manager to ensure all electrical systems are maintained to the highest standards. Acting as an Authorised Person (LV/HV), youll oversee statutory compliance, support inspections and maintenance activities, and play a key role in ensuring electrical safety across the site. Key Responsibilities: Act as an Electrical Authorised Person for LV and HV systems, carrying out isolations, switching, and safety operations. Coordinate statutory inspections and compliance activities across electrical and associated building services assets. Support technical investigations, fault diagnostics, and root cause analysis. Work closely with the Technical Compliance Manager and subject matter experts to deliver a robust compliance and maintenance programme. Manage relationships and activities with approved third-party contractors for HV operations and specialist services. Maintain and update electrical models and documentation in Amtech (EOM). Support training, competency assessments, and development of engineering team members. Provide operational guidance and technical leadership across the account. Requirements: Extensive experience in electrical engineering within a building services or critical environment. HNC or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering (or significant practical experience). Recognised certifications including 18th Edition, LVAP/HVAP, and ideally Inspection & Testing. Familiarity with BMS systems, SCADA, power management, and on-site generation. Experience in switching schedules, compliance standards, and health & safety systems. Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across a multidisciplinary technical team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electrical software such as Amtech.
