Join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Hospital as an Operational Estates Officer (Engineering) and play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of our extensive estate infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Operational Estates Manager, you will be entrusted with overseeing a diverse range of engineering plant, equipment, and services across our Trust properties. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to a dynamic healthcare environment, ensuring that our facilities support the delivery of exceptional patient care through reliable and efficient engineering operations.
What you’ll do:
* Manage the site wide steam distribution and condense systems, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
* Oversee the inspection and maintenance of pressure vessels in accordance with Pressure Systems Regulations.
* Manage all air conditioning plant and systems across the estate.
* Ensure Legionella control measures are implemented and compliant with HTMs and HSE L8 guidance.
* Act as an Authorised Person for Medical Gases and oversee associated safety procedures.
* Coordinate major infrastructure shutdowns in collaboration with affected departments and permit to work systems.
* Manage external contractors for maintenance and project works, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
What you bring:
* Qualified to at least HNC level or equivalent in mechanical engineering
* Proven experience in maintaining mechanical building services
* Qualified as an Authorised Person (Medical Gases)
* Previous experience managing steam raising plant and leading teams
* Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, health and safety legislation, and legionella control
* Skilled in contract management, budgeting, and report writing
* Excellent communication, planning, and decision making skills, with computer literacy in Microsoft Office
