An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in the colorectal surgery team at our Chelsea site. The post holder has a distinct level of responsibility to patients with Lower G.I tumours in providing a comprehensive specialist nursing service to the Royal Marsden NHS Trust, working within a team of advanced practice nurses. The post-holder will have clinical responsibility for patients undergoing diagnosis and surgery for colorectal cancer and assisting with managing side effects and sign-posting to appropriate services.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and experienced, who enjoys patient contact and working in a multi-disciplinary environment to support the delivery of a quality service. You must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, reliability and have an organised approach to work.
Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for a dependable and highly adaptable individual who is able to work independently and has the ability to fit in quickly as part of a team.
* To assist in the provision of professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the care of the patient with colorectal cancers, acting as a resource and consultant to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff.
* To lead and contribute to the formulation of policies.
* To lead and contribute to the formulation of patient information.
* To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team so as to achieve a synchronised specialist service across both sites.
* To provide informal and formal teaching, e.g. academic courses provided by the School of Cancer Nursing and Rehabilitation.
