To lead Denbighshire Voluntary Service Council in delivering its mission to facilitate and grow the delivery and support of high-quality voluntary services, collaborations and social impact projects across the Denbighshire community; working collaboratively with local and national stakeholders to inspire vibrant and rewarding community‑based activity and networks in Denbighshire, making a real difference to the lives of local people.


Key accountabilities:

* With the DVSC Board and leadership team, develop and deliver long‑term strategic and annual operational plans to enable sustainable funding and local implementation of DVSC’s offering across Denbighshire through securing bid applications from across the Third Sector in Wales and delivering successful financial turnover year on year.
* To develop a creative, kind and energetic culture at DVSC, shaping a fun and engaging place to work, motivating and inspiring the team to deliver and grow their talents; recruiting new potential, managing performance expectations and wellbeing, coaching and empowering individuals and building succession to help improve robustness in the organisation.
* To lead and refine best‑practice operational performance so that resources, policies and procedures are set up simply and effectively to ensure all governance, legal, risk management, regulatory and quality standards are fit for purpose.
* To maximise opportunities for DVSC through nurturing personal stakeholder relationships acting as an ambassador and influencer by building key networks and partnerships to ensure an effective and welcoming presence for DVSC within the Third Sector; in addition, ensuring visibility, good connections and influence using effective marketing, communication and social media tools.
* To lead and manage change positively in a timely fashion with clear engagement of key stakeholders at the forefront of successful implementation: great communication, good planning and bespoke training interventions for stakeholders in place as the key to delivering sustainable and effective change.
* To work proactively with the Board of Trustees and develop a strong and trusting relationship with them to support their success, enabling them to meet their commitments and undertakings to DVSC; facilitating activities such as Board meetings and minutes, strategic planning processes, Trustee appointments, development of Trustee skills, facilitating interactions within the community, provision of legal, governance and regulatory guidance, sharing of Third‑Sector knowledge and insights etc.


Key Knowledge & Experience Required:

* At least 3 years working in a senior level role within the Third Sector with Board level interaction
* Success in securing and delivering Third Sector bid applications and grant funding within the community
* Experience of financial management and planning
* Successful application and use of Third Sector knowledge
* Understanding of public policy and public sector environment locally, regionally and nationally in Wales.

Preferred (but not essential) attributes:

* Higher or further level of education
* Knowledge and practical fluency level in Welsh
* Community Development experience
* Experience of operational management practices - IT Systems and data, HR policies and employment law, procurement, business services provision, marketing, project management
