We have an exciting opportunity for two new Principal Engineers to join AXA Health’s engineering team. The role focuses on building out a Single Digital Platform centred around Salesforce, with significant .NET and Azure components, to re‑platform our business and deliver better health outcomes for our members across the UK.
Responsibilities
* Lead a product engineering team and own the delivery of transformation roadmap outcomes.
* Collaborate with the Engineering Leadership team to set and execute the engineering strategy.
* Spend substantial time hands‑on with code: reviewing pull requests, enforcing best practices for full‑time and third‑party engineers.
* Inspire excellence in teams, driving improvements in engagement, performance, and wellbeing.
* Represent engineering to Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and business subject‑matter experts to ensure quality delivery of commitments.
* Assess and recommend new technology solutions.
* Ensure non‑functional requirements—performance, scalability, resilience, and GRC (information security, risk, regulatory compliance)—are met.
* Encourage collaboration and product ownership across developers and testers.
* Reduce technical debt and maintain secure, quality, tested code in a multi‑vendor environment.
* Improve core DORA metrics and optimise flow through our delivery processes.
Qualifications
* Proven experience building and leading high‑performing engineering teams.
* Deep expertise in Salesforce and its ecosystem, including building and scaling solutions in large enterprises.
* Experience with Azure, .NET services, ADO pipelines, and React web applications is highly desirable.
* Ability to design and deliver complex solutions within time and budget constraints, focusing on outcomes, not output.
* Experience managing large application estates delivering critical business value; financial services sector experience is a plus.
* Strong stakeholder management across diverse business domains.
* Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and their business impact.
* Ability to translate business strategy into technical solutions and technical design.
* Proficiency in Agile practices and end‑to‑end SDLC flow.
* Prior experience in a product‑centric organisation is preferred.
