We are now seeking, for our site in Peterborough : Lead Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) You will lead a small team of mechanical design engineers, especially for our bakery sector. This role requires hands-on technical design leadership, in addition to managing the team workload, communication, quality, and long-term professional development of your team. Main Duties Technical Provide technical direction to the team, producing sound engineering solutions to engineering problems, backed up with design analysis where appropriate Develop and implement innovative solutions to problems incorporating the latest materials, manufacturing processes and technology to drive the product range forward Manage product developments, ensuring changes are controlled and implemented across the product range to maintain a standard equipment offering Take overall design responsibility for projects assigned to the team and manage them from project launch to completion ensuring all project deliverables are met Ensure all required design standards and legislation are met and supporting documentation is produced and approved Warrant equipment quality, resolving any design problems found during manufacturing or commissioning Coordinate technical support to sales to help produce accurate project proposals and manage project risk. Guarantee designs comply with Baker Perkins standards and quality procedures Support and where appropriate lead mechanical testing in the factory and/or on site Actively share knowledge across the department to facilitate improving all product sectors and promote a common approach Safeguard commercial implications are considered and understood when decisions are made by the team, including business risk, quality, cost and schedule Team Management Day-to-day management of team members Recruitment and training plans for direct reports as well as mentoring of junior engineers Management of project design cost, schedule and quality Review and provide feedback on prospects including schedule, design hours and project risk Deputise for the engineering manager or other lead sector engineers when needed Drive and be a role model for the company values and behaviours Be aware of and follow all company health and safety policies and procedures, in respect of self and others Candidate Profile Degree in mechanical engineering (BEng or higher) or equivalent Strong hands-on experience in design, analysis and testing of mechanical systems Experience in a relevant area of capital equipment: food and beverage, O&G, pharmaceuticals, etc. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions Management know-how is an advantage, but not essential Capability to manage multiple projects and prioritise accordingly Dexterity in using 3D drawing packages and PLM software, and in checking mechanical calculations Customer-oriented and commercially aware Join us welcome to Shaping What Matters For Tomorrow ADZN1_UKTJ
