Overall Objective
Responsible for supporting the Management Team and supervising the yard team to ensure the efficient running of the yard function, supporting the smooth operation of the yard, and ensuring sales are delivered on time with minimal disruption, in line with standard operating practices and HSE requirements.
To maximize the sales and margin potential of the branch in line with the agreed business objectives and to control all aspects of the operation including delivery vehicle usage.
Responsibility for supervising the yard team, including ensuring the administration, coordination, and movements of vehicles meet customer and internal Company requirements at all times.
Job Description:
A Yard Supervisor will be expected to perform any of the following tasks:
* Assist the Manager in delivering the budgeted sales and margin targets as a minimum.
* Assist the Manager in controlling stock at the agreed levels and ensuring that the core range is always available.
* Ensure accurate checking on all stock deliveries.
* Ensure high standards of yard/warehouse security.
* Ensure all relevant vehicle and FLT safety checks are carried out and correctly documented, with defects reported immediately.
* Assist the Manager in reducing costs within the business.
* Ensure the efficient use of delivery vehicles and adherence to correct procedures regarding dispatch paperwork and cash collection.
* Ensure customer service is delivered to a consistently high standard.
* Maintain the branch's presentation standards at a high level.
* Assist in maintaining the Health & Safety policy and ensuring it is always observed.
* Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
Education/Qualifications/Experience: Must have a good level of written and spoken English. Previous experience is essential, with proven supervisory skills and relevant product knowledge preferred, ideally gained within a similar industry. Forklift experience and knowledge of transport legislation are desirable.
