Overview
Staff Nurse – Eden Day Unit (Part-Time, 25.5 Hours, Permanent) at Wexham Park Hospital, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. This role is suitable for nurses with acute care or oncology experience, or those keen to develop in chemotherapy services, with a clear path toward a Junior Sister role. The post involves supporting the delivery of high-quality care to patients undergoing chemotherapy and cancer treatments in a busy, dynamic unit and offers training and development in a specialist oncology environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Administering chemotherapy safely and effectively
* Coordinating the daily patient list and staff allocation
* Using the UKONS triage system to assess patient needs
* Providing compassionate, patient-focused care
* Lead and monitor the performance and standards of care within the Nursing Team
* Work collaboratively with the cancer services team to facilitate service development
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* RGN Level 1
* Current NMC Registration
Desirable criteria
* Trained in the administration of chemotherapy
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience as a Band 5 Registered Nurse – with completion of preceptorship
* Competent in basic life support and IV administration
* Teaching and supervising of junior staff
* Effective working with multi-disciplinary teams
Desirable criteria
* Experienced in working in oncology
* Has experience or training with administration of chemotherapy
Skills & Knowledge
* Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult/stressful situations
* Able to prioritise workload (self and others) and meet deadlines
* Time management and delegation skills
* Able to train and supervise junior staff
Special Requirements
* To work in other areas of the department when required
* Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required
