Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth has a CQC Good rating and provides excellent healthcare to the population of Plymouth and the south west region, including Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and all of Devon. We are an elective surgical centre providing arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy and cataract surgery. The clinical services include Outpatients, Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Ward, Theatres, Endoscopy suite, Radiography, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy, delivered by a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
As a Pre-Assessment Nurse in the Outpatients Department you will deliver a high standard of patient care supported by evidence based practice. You will:
* Ensure nursing is practised within the constraints of relevant Department of Health legislation, NMC Code of professional conduct, Care Quality Commission standards, NICE guidelines and Practice Plus Group policies.
* Function as a clinical practitioner within the Outpatient and Pre-assessment Service and be responsible for the delivery of patient care and managing a daily workload.
* Maintain effective communication to deliver high quality patient care.
Qualifications
* NMC Registered Nurse Part 1
* ECG and Venepuncture training
Experience
* Recent experience at Band 5 or equivalent in an acute surgical setting.
* Experience in orthopaedics.
* Experience in a pre-assessment/outpatient setting.
* Ability to demonstrate evidence based practice.
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to plan, allocate and evaluate own work and develop self to enhance performance of others.
* Ability to teach, train and develop Health Care Assistants.
* Report writing skills.
* Ability to meet the needs of patients.
* Prepared to undertake appropriate pre-assessment qualifications and courses.
* IT and computer literacy.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Familiarity with company Safety and Infection control policy and procedures.
