Overview
Health, Safety & Environment Apprentice - 24 month contract at Equans UK & Ireland. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a 24 month fixed-term contract. On offer is a competitive salary, and benefits package.
The apprenticeship role will support the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) function within facilities management in a dynamic hospital environment. You’ll gain hands-on experience while working alongside experts to promote a safe and compliant workplace. You’ll also complete the Level 3 Safety, Health and Environment Technician apprenticeship qualification via online learning.
What will you deliver?
* Assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating risk assessments and method statements
* Conduct site safety inspections under supervision
* Support monitoring of COSHH controls and hazardous materials
* Help with the reporting and investigation of accidents, near misses, and incidents
* Contribute to monthly HSE performance reports
* Participate in the review of contractor documentation for construction and lifecycle projects
* Assist in creating and distributing team safety briefs
* Assist with waste management documentation
* Promote Behavioural Based Safety and a positive safety culture
* Liaise with frontline teams across services to ensure safe working practices are embedded
* Learn to communicate HSE matters effectively across departments

Who are we looking for?
* 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A-C/9-4, including English, Maths and Science
* Willingness to work in a trainee role to attain a range of skills
* Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
* A flexible and adaptable approach
* Proactive approach to problem solving
* A genuine interest in Health, Safety & Environment
* Ability to pass a DBS Standard check (this role includes a DBS check)
