Job Description

Salary: From £32,860 pa (+ on call rota allowance)

Permanent, full-time position: 40 hours per week

Office based role at Prockters Farm Offices, West Monkton, Taunton

Job Description:



As a Deputy Manager for Supported Living, you’ll be based within the head office to support the service providing a stable, structured, and therapeutic environment for our Supported Living young people. You will work closely with the Registered Nominated Individual and Registered Manager for Supported Living to ensure that they work closely with the young people accessing the service, who they support, ensuring all team members are nurturing, listening and encouraging. The Supported Living service is designed specifically to provide semi-independent living support to young people aged 16 years and over. You will ensure that the values of organisation are embodied, ensuring the effective implementation of care plans and person-centred care, as well as taking a lead role in developing and updating the key documents, whilst role modelling and supporting colleagues. It is essential that you are a supportive, driven person who displays patience, kindness, and leadership skills that enable you to role model a passion for empowering young people to achieve their full potential.



You will be expected to support in covering shortfalls alongside the Supported Living Manager and your fellow Deputy Supported Living Managers.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

· Share and always embody the company ethos and values in your practice

· Support the manager in practices that promote the individuals' care plans. These should reflect their wishes and changing needs including communication and independence skills.

· To provide support and guidance on young person focused practices lending to nurture the road to independent living, such as exploring suitable college courses, management of personal finances, shopping, meal preparation, effective cleaning, laundry, exploring hobbies and interests to include expanding social skills etc.

· To support the young person in an appropriate professional manner in all aspects of their lives, be this personally, emotionally, physically, socially, or vocationally.

· To support people to maintain relationships with their family and friends.

· To understand and respect things which are important to young people and colleagues.

· To encourage young people to make choices and decisions for themselves and support them to do new things in a way that keeps them safe but does not allow concerns about safety to stop them doing the things they want to do.

· To be flexible in your approach and work for the benefit of the young people and colleagues

· To work sleep shifts or waking nights if required to do so.

· Be a good role model for the staff team at all times.

· Ensure the staff team are supported, mentored, and receive the highest quality of supervision and coaching where appropriate.

· Undertake all duties of your role with due diligence and pride.

· Be responsible and accountable for the young people’s safety and well-being at all times; ensuring that their best interests are always promoted.

· Responsible for completing supervisions for your team.

· Ensuring the service is compliant with Health & Safety.

· Ensure that budgets are kept to and monitored.

· Ensure team members are recording mileage and submitting timesheets and expenses on time.

· Take responsibility for ensuring that all identified tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

This role is subject to the successful applicant having an enhanced DBS check for child and adult workforce with barred list checks.

Requirements


• Full driving license

• Desirable NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare

• Desirable NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management

• Experience of being a Children's Residential Support Worker or senior post holder seeking career advancement

• Desirable experience in supervising a team.

Requirements
Skills, Knowledge, Aptitude Essential Competent Literacy and Numeracy Excellent communication skills Understanding of people’s rights Flexibility and reliability Enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to working with young individuals and those with learning disabilities or challenging behaviours Committed to working in a person-centred way Ability to travel to different sites and transport young people where required · Desirable Knowledge of the Health and Social Care Act and the Reach Standard Experience in a similar field · Qualifications and Training Desirable NVQ level 3, or Diploma in Health and Social Care. Personal Attributes To be calm, caring, level-headed, respectful and honest. To be motivated, committed and enthusiastic. To be able to use own initiative. Ability to handle stressful situations. Open to self-development. Previous experience in a similar role. Essential Requirements Full UK Driving Licence. Access to a reliable vehicle Business Insurance Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS Registered DBS to the Online Update Service Attending mandatory face to face training.
