With growing commitments and anticipated growth, we are now seeking to hire a Project Manager to work with our Programme Manager, engineering and management teams in Edinburgh. Role & Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
· Develop comprehensive Project Management Plans and Development Plans in collaboration with Programme Managers and Technical Leads.
· Create and maintain a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Gantt schedule to clearly define tasks, milestones, and deliverables.
· Establish project-specific execution strategies, protocols, and governance processes, including reviews, gate approvals, and risk management framework
Task Management & Progress Monitoring
· Assign tasks and monitor progress jointly with Technical Leads, ensuring accountability and timely completion.
· Track key project metrics, identify potential roadblocks or critical path risks, and prepare mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
· Conduct regular status reviews and report progress, risks and decisions to stakeholders.
Risk & Issue Management
· Proactively identify risks and issues that may affect project delivery.
· Develop, document, and implement risk mitigation and contingency plans.
Procurement & Supplier Management
· Define and execute procurement strategies to ensure timely purchasing of materials and services aligned with project needs. Support stock control to maintain adequate inventory levels and minimise delays.
· Manage and evaluate the projects' pool of suppliers and subcontractors, including onboarding, quality control, and performance monitoring.
· Negotiate with suppliers to optimise costs, lead times, and contractual terms while maintaining quality standards.
· Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and relevant regulations.
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
· Participate in customer-facing project reviews and provide clear updates on project status, risks, and next steps.
· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
Business Development Support
· Provide inputs for proposals and bids, including schedules, resource estimates, and risk considerations to support future business opportunities.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
· 10+ years of relevant experience as Project Leader/Manager in an engineering organisation
· Experience with formal ESA (European Space Agency) project documentation and workflows
· Experience in aerospace product and/or system development projects
· Experience in building large & complex project plans
· Strong organisational and communication (written and verbal) skills, with prior experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
· Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers
· PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification, an agile qualification is desirable
· A bachelor's degree in science or engineering and work experience as an engineer is desirable.
