Front End Developer Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm Location: Poole, Dorset (WFH on Thursday) Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum DOE We’re looking for an enthusiastic Front End Developer to join an ambitious design and marketing consultancy, overlooking the harbour in Poole, Dorset. Their focus is providing digital solutions (primarily web design and online marketing) to members of the medical industry. Company details Established in 2000, our client is a steadily growing agency working almost exclusively with the medical profession, with a portfolio of 450 ongoing clients. Benefit Package You will work in a friendly, fun and informal (but hardworking!) open plan office environment with beautiful sea views and a ‘games area’ with pool, table football, table tennis, darts and computer games. There are regular company-paid & social events, along with Friday ‘unwinding’ time in our social ‘games area’. The basic salary will depend on experience/ qualifications but will be circa £40k - £45k Plus up to 28 days holiday (in addition to Bank Holidays), pension, profit share scheme, income protection, dental insurance, share options, etc. (see attached Benefit Schedule) Role responsibilities To develop best practice custom-coded, user-friendly and optimised websites based on wireframes and briefings provided by account managers, SEO team, and designers. The candidate will also be responsible for updating and amending existing clients’ websites as required. Skills A suitable candidate will have experience in creating attractive and creative sites utilising HTML, CSS/SCSS and JavaScript. Extensive CMS knowledge, ideally PHP and experience building and building custom themes for WordPress. Experience A minimum of two years of experience in a web development role. Preference for someone who has experience in a production environment real-world; so, they have a good ability to work collaboratively, and to deadlines. A keen ‘team player’ who enjoys providing constructive feedback in a positive manner and wants to help others. They need to fit well into an office that works closely together across the various teams with positivity to achieve the best collaborative result. Creativity A strong development portfolio is a must. We're looking for someone who also has creative flair, and the best way to judge that is a portfolio showing off their best work. An ability to critique other designs and then offer feedback in a positive and constructive manner is essential - as is the ability to receive and assimilate design feedback from many sources in the same way. Required * An interesting portfolio exhibiting creative web development work * Good coding skills. * Experience with responsive design and familiarity with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. * Proficiency with at least WordPress and WooCommerce. * Developed and proven skills with web design software and tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and WordPress. * Understanding of web standards and SEO best practices to ensure designs are optimised for search engines and accessible to all users. * Good communication and organisational skills A proactive ’can-do, will-do’ attitude to be successful and learn. * Ability to work on own initiative, under direction and within a team, as appropriate. * Able to share opinions/ ideas. * Willing to take ‘design changes’/ comments on board.
