SEND Team Manager

Lancashire County Council is looking for an experienced and highly skilled SEND Team Manager to lead a crucial county-wide function.
About the Role
As the SEND Team Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the resolution of complex case queries, ensuring that all actions align with statutory requirements and local policies. You will be a key point of contact, providing expert guidance and support to team managers and case officers across the county. This role involves close collaboration with colleagues in Finance and Legal to facilitate effective resolutions for children, young people, and their families.
Key responsibilities:
* Managing and resolving complex case queries that require specific direction.
* Providing guidance and support to other team managers and case officers.
* Liaising with internal and external partners, including legal and finance teams.
* Chairing the EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School) forum to ensure consistent and fair decision-making.
* Upholding and promoting adherence to all statutory and local policies.
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in making high-level decisions within statutory SEND services.
* Comprehensive knowledge of SEND legislation and policy.
* Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, including families, colleagues, and external partners.
* The ability to manage complex information and work under pressure to achieve positive outcomes.
* A collaborative approach and a commitment to working in partnership to deliver the best possible support for children and young people.
Additional Skills Required:
* Financial Acumen: The ability to understand and manage budgets related to SEND provision, and to work effectively with finance colleagues to secure appropriate funding for support packages.
* Legal Knowledge: A solid understanding of the legal framework surrounding SEND, including tribunals and judicial review, to effectively liaise with legal colleagues and represent the council's position.
* Conflict Resolution: The ability to navigate and de-escalate complex situations and disagreements between different parties.
* Strategic Thinking: The capacity to contribute to the development of wider SEND strategy and policy within the council
