Mobile Vehicle Technician – SMR Division
Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair.
Compensation
* A competitive base salary of £45,378 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable), with on‑target earnings up to £57,000.
* A guaranteed overtime option that increases your base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
* 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
Where you’ll work
You’ll be part of the Harlow cluster, covering areas such as Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Waltham Abbey, Epping and Hoddesdon. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working a clearly planned schedule of appointments – no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work.

* Routine servicing.
* Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
* In‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop.
* Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection.
* Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. From day one you’ll have a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics.
What you’ll need
* Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
* A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

* Earnings – market‑competitive base salary as listed and the opportunity to increase earnings up to £57,000 via bonuses and premium‑rate overtime. 40‑hour week with Monday–Saturday availability (8 am–8 pm).
* Guaranteed Overtime – opt‑in after first month to work extra rest days at £30 per hour. One extra day a month could earn £3,000 more per year; two extra days could give an extra £5,000.
