As a Business Development Manager, your sole focus will be to identify and secure brand new business opportunities in our sectors, frameworks, or regions where we currently operate.
This role is about opening doors, whether that’s breaking into a new sector, winning new business with an existing sector, or establishing a presence with customers or procurement routes we haven’t engaged with before. Once a customer or a project has been secured, the opportunity will be handed over to the Account Manager / Client Account Management team for development and long-term growth.
You’ll work closely with the wider sales and marketing teams to feed insights back into the business, helping shape strategy and future positioning. Admin and quoting support will be provided by the Client Account Manager team where needed, allowing you to stay focused on high-value pipeline building.
Job Specifics
* Identify and win brand new opportunities in sectors, regions, or frameworks where we are currently active
* Map and approach organisations we are not currently working with — across both public and private sector
* Proactively research and target new targets or procurement routes that align with our offer
* Engage with procurement, estates, consultants, and Director level decision-makers to open conversations and create new leads
* Attend meetings and build early-stage relationships to understand future pipeline and shape the opportunity
* Work with internal teams to understand product and service offering, and how best to position us in new markets
* Use CRM to log activity, build pipeline, and report progress accurately (admin supported by Client Account Managers)
* Once a new route, customer, or framework is secured, hand the opportunity over to the Account Management team for development
* Feed insights into marketing and leadership teams to inform campaigns and wider strategy
* Own your personal business development plan, aligned with agreed targets and strategic focus
* Attend monthly strategy sessions and weekly pipeline reviews with your Sales Director
* Represent the business at relevant sector events, exhibitions, and meetings
Personal Specification
* Proven experience in business development, with a focus on opening new sectors, accounts, or frameworks
* Excellent at building relationships from a cold or low-engagement starting point
* Comfortable working with long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder deals
* Knowledge of public sector frameworks and procurement processes is highly desirable
* Strong communication and influencing skills, able to open doors and position value
* Target-driven and commercially aware, with a proactive approach
* Confident using CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot) and comfortable working digitally
* Able to travel nationally in line with role requirements
