The Senior Designer will play a crucial role in creating innovative girlswear collections that meet high-street fashion brand needs.
As a Senior Designer, you will oversee the entire design process, from concept to finished product, ensuring high-quality, fashionable designs aligned with market trends and client specifications. You will foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure our designs resonate with mass-market consumers.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Develop innovative and commercially viable ranges based on client specifications and market research.
2. Maintain a strong awareness of current fashion trends to inform design direction.
3. Communicate daily with suppliers and production teams in the Far East to ensure alignment on designs and timelines.
4. Work closely with Account Managers and buyers to understand customer needs.
5. Translate creative ideas into commercial designs suitable for the mass market.
6. Produce detailed design sheets and artwork for factories, including specifications for samples.
7. Present designs and concepts to customers and buyers, ensuring clear understanding and buy-in.
8. Travel to the Far East and other locations to foster relationships with factories and suppliers.
9. Research new trends through shopping trips in the UK and internationally.
10. Conduct trend prediction to keep the design process innovative.
11. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and explore new product development.
12. Mentor junior team members and participate in recruiting placement students.
Relevant & Technical Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
* Strong creative flair, with an excellent sense of colour and design execution.
* Familiarity with textile production techniques and trend analysis tools.
* Understanding of retail market dynamics and customer preferences.
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and collaboration.
* Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
* Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, and Shima Apex.
* Knowledge of the product development lifecycle and technical specifications creation.
