Vehicle Mechanic / Vehicle Technician – The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic / Vehicle Technician to join a well-established operation supporting essential airport ground operations at Luton Airport.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong mechanical expertise who takes pride in delivering high standards of maintenance, diagnostics, and repair across a varied fleet of specialist airport equipment.
You will play a key role in keeping critical ground support vehicles and equipment fully operational, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency across daily airport operations.
Vehicle Mechanic / Vehicle Technician Key Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and specialist airport vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults efficiently.
Perform inspections, servicing, brake testing, and preventative maintenance.
Accurately identify repair requirements and parts needed before commencing work.
Complete all job cards, inspection sheets, and maintenance documentation to a high standard.
Record parts usage and ensure correct handling and storage of components.
Work closely with supervisors and team members to maintain operational efficiency.
Identify unsafe or defective tools/equipment and report them appropriately.
Support the reliability and availability of equipment critical to airport operations.

Vehicle Mechanic / Vehicle Technician About You
Qualified to Level 3 in Motor Mechanics, HGV, Plant, or equivalent.
Proven experience in commercial vehicles, plant machinery, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Safety-conscious with a professional and reliable approach.
Experience with hydraulics, diesel engines, or specialist vehicles would be advantageous.
