A welcoming school in Shoreham is seeking an Individual Needs Assistant to work closely with pupils requiring tailored support. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping children engage fully in their learning and thrive in a positive school environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Individual Needs Assistant:
* Provide one-to-one support for pupils with individual learning or behavioural needs.
* Assist with adapting resources and activities to suit pupils’ abilities and learning styles.
* Encourage participation, independence, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
* Support behaviour management strategies in a calm and constructive manner.
* Work in partnership with teachers, SENCO, and parents/carers to monitor progress and share feedback.
Requirements for the Individual Needs Assistant role:
* Previous experience supporting children with SEN or additional needs is desirable.
* Understanding of a range of learning difficulties, behavioural needs, or disabilities.
* Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.
* A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting pupils.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
* Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
* Provide a full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
