Join Our Friendly Team as a Switchboard Operator – Wexham Park Hospital
Band 2 | 32.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm

Main duties of the job
As a Switchboard Operator, you’ll be a vital part of our 24/7 communications hub, helping to ensure patients, staff, and services stay connected – especially in emergencies.
You'll work at Wexham Park Hospital, handling a wide range of calls including patient queries, internal communications, and emergency situations such as cardiac arrests and fire alarms. This role is perfect for someone who is calm, organised, and responsive.
What You’ll Do
* Answer incoming calls efficiently and professionally – you’re often the first voice people hear.
* Quickly and accurately handle emergency calls following Trust procedures.
* Take detailed messages and ensure the right person gets the right information.
* Respond to major incidents and critical alerts with confidence and accuracy.
* Maintain accurate internal contact directories and support telecom system updates.
* Log facility-related requests via the Planet FM system and arrange staff taxi bookings as needed.
* Work closely with the Telecoms Team Leader to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Cover for colleagues during annual leave or sickness (flexibility is key).
* Keep your knowledge current with mandatory training and personal development opportunities.
