Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join their Looked After Children service on a temporary contract.
Key Details:
Contract Length: Until the end of December
Rate: £40 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Minimum of 3 days on-site per week
Please note: This role does not involve chairing child protection conferences
Candidate Requirements:
Strong experience across statutory social work teams, particularly with looked after children and families
Proven ability to chair complex meetings and work effectively within a multi-agency setting
In-depth understanding of the legal framework for looked after children, including:
Care Planning Regulations
Duties and responsibilities of the IRO (as per the IRO Handbook)
Minimum of 3 years' permanent experience within a local authority

Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
Social Work England Registration
Driving license and access to your own vehicle
