The governors, staff and pupils seek an exceptional and dynamic teacher to cover a 0.6 teaching position whilst the teacher is on maternity leave. This is a 0.6 role (working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Our successful and happy school is based in Penylan, a mixed residential area in the south-east of Cardiff, and serves a culturally and socially diverse urban community. The school is housed in a modern, bespoke, primary school building with extensive grounds, which have been developed into a thriving Forest School and outdoor play areas. Outdoor learning is important to us and every Foundation Phase year group has its own outdoor learning area attached to the classrooms. Howardian is a very popular school and currently has 426 pupils on roll including an 80-place Nursery. 17% of our pupils are free school meals and we are committed to equity and inclusivity, ensuring that all our children thrive in the learning environment. We can offer you a dedicated and hardworking staff, enthusiastic pupils backed by supportive parents and an active governing body. We are proud of our many achievements and awards, including being a Rights Respecting Gold award school, a Healthy School Phase 4 and a School of Sanctuary. The post is temporary to cover the maternity leave of the permanent post holder and will continue until December 2026 with the possibility of extending to January 2027, or the resumption/resignation of the permanent post holder, whichever is sooner.
