A specialist alternative provision in the Glastonbury area is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support young people aged 14 to 16.
This setting works with pupils who require additional support to re-engage with education in a nurturing and structured environment.
This supportive specialist provision focuses on helping students who have experienced barriers to mainstream education. Pupils may have trauma backgrounds, social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and may have previously been excluded from school. The staff team is highly committed to creating a safe, consistent and encouraging space where young people can rebuild confidence and develop positive relationships with learning.
Role Details
* Full-time position with an immediate start
* Working hours 8.45am to 3.30pm
* Supporting students aged 14 to 16 in a SEN Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)
* Providing one-to-one and small group support
* Encouraging engagement, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
* Assisting teachers with classroom activities and structured learning

* Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
* Patient, resilient and understanding of trauma-informed approaches
* Experience with SEMH, behaviour support, or alternative provision is beneficial
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
