Environmental & Social (E&S) Consultant
NSB Recruitment has an interesting and purpose-driven role for an Environmental & Social (E&S) Consultant, supporting key projects in E&S obligations.
Our client specializes in delivering turnkey infrastructure solutions in healthcare, digital, and government administration sectors across Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia, with active projects in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Indonesia.
Project stakeholders include government clients, Equator lenders, Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), regulators, and local communities and users.
The team works seamlessly with their French headquarters and regional offices throughout all project phases, from pre-sales to construction and operation.
Your Role and Responsibilities
* Collaborate with all business groups during each project stage to manage E&S requirements.
* Manage E&S contractors across all project phases, including pre-sales, construction, and operation.
* Contribute to preparing RFPs for E&S deliverables aligned with international lenders and IFC standards.
* Assist in reviewing external E&S consultants’ contracts and managing procurement processes.
* Oversee E&S contractor management, including purchase orders, invoices, and payments.
* Ensure E&S deliverables meet regional, national, and international regulations.
* Handle ESIA, ESMP, SEP, RAP, LRP, and other related plans.
* Monitor and report E&S performance during construction and operation.
* Interface with regulators and agencies regarding project compliance and permits.
* Manage environmental permits, consents, and compliance certifications.
* Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and 14001 standards.
Skills & Qualifications
* Excellent verbal and written skills in both English and French, including technical review capabilities.
* 2-5 years of consultancy experience in E&S sustainability projects.
* Degree in environmental science, engineering, or relevant fields; membership in a professional E&S institute is a plus.
* Understanding of E&S processes throughout project lifecycle.
* Familiarity with E&S regulations and permitting in West Africa and Indonesia.
* Knowledge of the Equator Principles, World Bank’s EHSG, IFC Performance Standards, OECD approaches.
* Willingness to travel internationally to project sites at key milestones.
