This Business Advisory Director job in the Scottish Borders is an outstanding opportunity for a qualified accountant with significant business advisory experience gained in a firm of Chartered Accountants, to add real value to a growing practice. The firm has an enviable reputation for quality and “the personal touch”, and this role of Business Advisory Director will play a crucial part in the growth, development and strategy of the firm.
Reporting to the proprietor of the firm and working as part of the wider leadership team, the Business Advisory Director will offer leadership and guidance to a small team, whilst managing and developing a portfolio of clients in diverse areas such as: Agriculture & Farming, Charities, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Property & Construction, Retail, Services plus Startups/Entrepreneurial clients.
As Business Advisory Director, your duties and responsibilities will include:
* Act as a “Client Relationship Manager” for a varied and diverse client portfolio
* Have final sign off for statutory financial statements, corporate tax returns, VAT returns and personal tax returns
* Identify advisory opportunities and co-ordinate advisory work, initiating discussions with clients and bringing in relevant specialists as required
* Contribute to the general operational and strategic direction of the firm
* Coach, mentor and develop more junior staff members and support them through formal training and examinations as appropriate
* Prepare proposals, ensuring fees are set at appropriate levels
* Monitor budgets, manage Work in Progress and ensure value-based billing
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will likely have the following skill-set and career background:
* Fully qualified accountant (most likely CA/ACCA though ACMA/GCMA is also acceptable)
* At least 10 years’ PQE with demonstrable experience of working in a Business Advisory practice or similar
* A proven track record of managing and developing a team of staff
* An ability to business develop and win work from existing and new clients
* Well-developed IT skills, particularly around Iris, Xero and Excel
