Job overview Non-Executive Director Remuneration Fee: £10,000 per annum agreed travelling expenses Community Dental Services (CDS) is a Community Interest Company (CIC) delivering high quality services to the NHS and local authorities. We commit to reinvesting any surplus back into patient care and we are 100% owned by our employees. CDS is a referral only dental service, bringing oral health care to people who cannot be treated in a general dental practice. Our patients typically have complex additional needs such as a learning disability, or they may require specialist equipment like a bariatric dental chair or wheelchair tipper. We care for housebound patients through our domiciliary teams and marginalised groups using our mobile dental clinics, working in partnership with organisations patients know and trust. Our Prisons Team are experts in providing dental care for adults and young people in secure settings. Oral health improvement teams work in the heart of our communities to ensure awareness of how to prevent tooth decay. We are seeking to appoint an individual who shares our values and ambitions and is passionate about making a difference and help us building on our success. The role is for an initial three-year fixed term appointment. The Non-Executive Director will work with the Board, CEO, and Executive Directors, to inform and support CDS to deliver its strategic ambitions. Detailed job description and main responsibilities You will be required to attend quarterly Board meetings and Board Development days in person. These are usually held in Bedfordshire and occasionally in other locations as agreed. Board Committees are held on MS Teams online. The time commitment on average is up to two days per month and will be flexible across the year. To be successful in this role, candidates will be excellent communicators, with the ability to create impact, by engaging and influencing key stakeholders in order to facilitate positive change.
