We are currently looking for an Assistant Estimator to join our traditional team, OD Interiors, helping us to bid and win projects to deliver.
This is an exciting opportunity which would be suitable for an individual who is seeking to start their career as an Estimator. As an Assistant Estimator you will support the Pre-Contracts and Estimating team with managing tenders from inception to submission and post tender negotiations. You will receive support and guidance from a welcoming team to give you a good grounding in the industry and provide a clear road map towards a full Estimator role in due course.
The Assistant Estimator will work on a variety of commercial fit out projects in a dynamic, diverse, and fast-paced team.
Key duties will include:
* Register new tenders and confirm completeness of the tender documents.
* Compile sub-contract trade lists.
* Issue bespoke trade enquiry packages.
* Compile bid lists for projects.
* Organise site survey visits for the team members and sub-contractors.
* Attend site to complete photographic surveys, check dimensions, speak to incumbent contractors, etc.
* Complete accurate take-offs.
* Compile a schedule of tender queries to be issued to the professional team.
* Input quantities into our pricing document and mark up trades for comparisons.
* Issue quantities to sub-contractors.
* Chase sub-contractor tender responses and gain additional quotes from the market where required.
* Help with sub-contractor final selection.
* Understand and develop preliminary costs for each project.
* Make any required post-finalisation alterations to bring the bid in line with agreed commercials.
* Ad hoc support to the bid and pre-contracts team as required.
Required skills:
* A relevant degree of at least 2:1 standard, or previous industry experience in pre-contracts / estimating.
* A team player who takes accountability and seeks continuous improvement.
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Attention to detail; a process-driven approach with good time management and ability to meet deadlines.
* A confident, knowledgeable, and articulate persona
