At Serco, we are recruiting Day and Shift Technicians for their Satellite Communications Teams at TCS Oakhanger in Bordon, working on behalf of the US Space Force.
The TCS contract is part of Serco’s Space and Security division. The Technician role involves configuring for real-time support and operating various satellite ground and communication systems. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, system checks, testing, troubleshooting, and rectification. Day Technicians work Monday-Friday, while Shift Technicians follow a rotational shift pattern.
This role suits individuals with experience in technical testing and problem resolution across Electronics, Electrical, IT, Mechanical, and RF disciplines. Full training, mentorship, and support will be provided to develop new skills and become an integral team member.

Main responsibilities include:
* Reporting to the Technical Delivery Manager or Operations Manager
* Complying with Serco’s Management Systems and USSF policies/procedures
* Configuring and operating satellite ground and communication systems accurately in real-time, performing routine maintenance, checks, tests, troubleshooting, and rectification
* Acting as a senior operational person when fully certified, reporting events to the Operations Manager
* Engaging in technical discussions with US operations management and Serco management teams
* Working 12-hour shifts as a Shift Technician after initial training and certification
* Participating in a weekly call-out rota for Day Technicians to support 24/7 operations
* Carrying out Document Reviews, Risk Assessments, and General Inspections
* Opportunities for overtime/TOIL once certified
* Training new hires
Requirements for the role:
* Ability to achieve and maintain Security Clearance
* GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English
* Electronic Engineering BTEC Level 3 diploma (with access to further learning)
* Willingness to complete CompTIA Security+ certification (training provided)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
* Willingness to become Crypto Authorized and Rescue Climber (training provided)
