WHAT IS INVOLVED? We’re looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Casual Front of House Officers at Gala Durham. In this role, you’ll play a key part in the smooth day-to-day running of the venue, delivering an exceptional experience for all our visitors. Your main duties will include: Managing the Stage Door and welcoming visiting companies Carrying out regular health and safety checks to ensure compliance Receiving deliveries Setting up rooms for meetings and events Securing the building at the end of each day Our Front of House Officers provide a friendly, efficient and professional front of house service, ensuring that every visitor enjoys a safe, high-quality and memorable experience. As the first point of contact for customers, contractors and partners, you’ll handle enquiries politely and promptly, offering help and information whenever needed. You’ll also play an active role in promoting our cultural programmes — supporting public engagement activities such as behind-the-scenes, heritage or gallery tours, and acting as a positive ambassador for the Culture Service. This role involves some physical activity, such as moving equipment and setting up spaces, so applicants should be comfortable carrying out these tasks. You will need a NVQ Level 2, or equivalent, in a relevant area and a First aid qualification or willingness to work towards Experience of working with customers from a wide range of backgrounds in a customer facing environment and of working in a theatre or other cultural venue is essential. You must have experience of using IT applications and of maintaining a safe working environment. Where our roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, you will be required to demonstrate the ability to speak fluent English. This is a requirement under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016. Please refer to the attached person specification for the full criteria. INTERVIEWS Interviews will be held on 12th November 2025.
