Job overview Are you an Accredited Clinical Coder with experience working within an acute NHS hospital setting? The Clinical Coding team at our hospital site Peterborough are looking to recruit to our substantive team of multi skilled specialist Clinical Coders. The successful candidate will be ACC qualified with experience in coding a broad range of clinical specialties. Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clinicians and all relevant support staff to ensure our coded data reflects accurately the care of our patients. Excellent analytical and judgement skills are essential in this role as is good working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy across a range of clinical specialties. You will be responsible for managing your own workload each day within the usual deadlines for submission of data. We pride ourselves on sharing knowledge across teams with support from senior colleagues who may be nominated as mentors to assist all coding colleagues where appropriate. You will also be supported by qualified auditors and a trainer ACC Clinical Coder Band 5 - £32,073-£39,043 (dependent upon years of experience) per annum Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week Contract: Permanent Vacancy site: Peterborough Advert Excellent analytical and judgement skills are essential as is a good working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy. Translation of clinical information into diagnostic and procedure codes from patient health records scanned on to an electronic document management system and variety of other electronic sources. Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clinicians and all relevant support staff to ensure our coded data reflects accurately the care of our patients. Conduct validation exercises with the responsible Consultant to ensure correct assignment of diagnostic and procedure codes and to identify gaps in clinical documentation to support clinical coding. Ideally you will have a good working knowledge of practical coding experience across all specialties within an acute NHS hospital setting. You will be managing your own workload each day within the usual deadlines for submission of coded data.
