Purpose of the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Test Capability Engineer to join a high‑performing, fast‑paced, and growing test team, playing a key role in supporting technology development by ensuring the capability, availability, and reliability for several on‑site test stands. The role involves working closely with test stakeholders to understand future capability requirements, develop and evaluate technical design solutions, and deliver agreed upgrades in line with test schedules. Working collaboratively with the test team and wider business, the role will also focus on identifying, investigating, and resolving issues to maintain safe and continuous test operations.
Key responsibilities include supporting the Test Capability Manager in delivering a robust, scalable, and cost‑effective test stand fleet, contributing to design and development activities in line with performance objectives, regulatory requirements, and relevant standards; assessing the feasibility of new capability requests, performing analytical work to validate performance and reliability across all operating conditions, and producing detailed design documentation such as P&IDs, electrical, and technical drawings. Safety will remain the foremost consideration in all design and implementation activities. The role also requires providing strong technical leadership through peer reviews, mentoring junior engineers, failure mode analyses, fault‑finding, and driving improvement initiatives to maximise test stand availability. In addition, the role will support scheduling, work package planning, commissioning, maintenance planning, and provide clear, regular updates to test management and project teams to ensure delivery against agreed timescales.
Knowledge and skills required for the role:

* Design and delivery background with experience of one or more of the following:
o Test stand / rig / dyno
o Electrical chassis design
o Control systems
* BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng level in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar
* Ability to visualise and summarise data, perform basic sense checking, identify inconsistencies and perform basic thermodynamic calculations, e.g. efficiency, simple heat balances
* Ability to read and produce technical documents including mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs
* Ability to plan and manage work packages
* Ability to produce risk assessments and other similar safety tools, e.g. HAZID, HAZOP and FMEA
* Sound report writing skills and the ability to communicate results and deliver presentations to colleagues and management
* Grasp new concepts quickly and develop a good working knowledge of Ceres Power products and their operation
* Delivery-focused and highly motivated, capable of handling multiple priorities and working alone as well as part of a high-performing team
