The School and Role
Justteachers are searching for a Food Technology Teacher, who is looking for a Long term role, in a Secondary school in the Blackburn area on a full time basis. The role is set to commence in February 2026, with shortlisting currently underway.
Staff work collaboratively to provide enriching opportunities both in and beyond the classroom, ensuring every pupil is encouraged to discover their strengths and strive for success.
Key Skills and Attributes:
* Planning and delivering engaging Food Preparation and Nutrition lessons across KS3 and KS4
* Ensuring practical lessons are safe, well-organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
* Teaching pupils key skills in nutrition, food science, cooking techniques, and hygiene
* Preparing pupils for KS4 assessments and GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition requirements
* Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on pupil progress in line with school policies
* Developing differentiated resources to support students of varying abilities
* Managing the classroom environment, equipment, and ingredients efficiently
* Promoting healthy eating, food sustainability, and safe kitchen practice
* Contributing to curriculum development within the Design & Technology department
* Participating in department meetings, CPD, and wider school initiatives
Pre-requisites:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Food Technology
* Proven UK secondary school teaching experience across KS3 and KS4
* Strong knowledge of Food Preparation and Nutrition curriculum requirements
* Up-to-date training in food hygiene and health and safety procedures
