Employed PAs x 4 Ref: LTES1525 Location: Eastbourne Details This role is to support a Woman The candidate should be a woman* Drivers licence required: Preferred Employment status: Employed Hours per week: 73.5 (9hrs overnight x 7 and 10.5hrs per week, 3 x 30-minute calls per day x 7 days) Hourly pay rate: £12.71ph - We are looking for 4 employed PAs to support a lovely 80-year-old lady who has a diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia which impacts upon her memory and decision making, but she can verbally express her views and wishes. She can experience hallucinations and sometimes believes that she can see people who are not there which can cause her distress, she is prescribed antipsychotic medication. There is a very supportive family network in place who oversee paperwork and appointments and liaise with any professions. Support is required with all domestic chores which include general cleaning, laundry, tidying up, changing bed sheets, and taking out rubbish to ensure that her home environment is clean and tidy and free from trip hazards. Support with all meal, snack and drink preparation; the PAs will prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for her to ensure that she eats and drinks adequately. She requires the carers to leave her drinks between visits to ensure that she remains hydrated. Support with showering, or bath as she is at risk of falling in the shower and requires support to ensure that she is safe when washing and does not fall. Support from PAs with her toileting needs, she requires support with changing her continence pads and requires assistance to use the commode which is next to her bed at night. The PAs will support her to transfer from her bed on to the commode using a sara steady if she is unable to stand. She can independently mobilise around her home; she has equipment in place such as a wheeled walker that she can use if she needs support. She is frail and her mobility can fluctuate and requires access to equipment when needed. She sleeps downstairs on a profile bed and has an air mattress in place. She also has a sara steady in place that can be used by her PAs if she has difficulties with standing up. She can sometimes wake up at night and will wander around her home. The PAs to ensure that they monitor her mobilise and if there are any changes, to consider requesting a referral to Occupational Therapy if equipment is needed. Full support with her prescribed medication; she requires her PAs to ensure that she takes her medication as prescribed to maintain her physical and mental health. She is safe to be left alone for short periods between care calls, but she is not safe to be left alone at night. To be supported by the carers overnight; they will support her between 3-4 times at night with using the commode and may need to use the sara steady if she cannot stand. She requires the PAs to provide reassurance, as she can become confused and experiences visual hallucinations. Duties include: - Medication prompting/administering - Personal grooming - Eating and drinking assistance - Moving and handling - Clinical tasks - Other relevant duties as required - Housekeeping - Cooking - Companionship - Dressing / undressing - Bathroom assistance Candidate qualities: - Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality - Reliable with good timekeeping - Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative - Hygienic, tidy and well organised - Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties - Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills - Honest and cheerful - Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard - Must be comfortable with pets - Able to always work to high standards of health & safety Additional requirements Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours, Vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission Notes: All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
