What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for editing and publishing a list of authors on the Constable Fiction list and for acquiring new projects within crime, thriller and suspense. You will work collaboratively with authors, agents and key internal departments, delivering exemplary communication and care in your publishing, and will showcase confident commercial instincts in acquiring. You will report to the PCR Fiction Publisher and will work closely with one other editor on the crime and thriller list. The job title is dependent on experience.


Who we are looking for

We are looking for a creative and highly organised editor who is already working at Editor level or higher within commercial publishing and has strong experience publishing crime and thriller. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the crime genre and an excellent market awareness, as well as a wide network of contacts within the industry. It is vital that you are a confident structural editor and are experienced in leading successful publications, ideally high-profile ones. The ability to multi-task, work calmly under pressure and be a strong team player is key.

The role will be based at our London, Sheffield, Edinburgh or Bristol offices, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.
