Overview
The Post Holder will provide 24 hour continuous management responsibility for their designated area. This includes co-ordination of all aspects of managerial function across the Directorate in the absence of senior management staff. The Post Holder will ensure the provision of the highest standards of care, which reflects the quality standards and the Health Board's mission. The Post Holder will be responsible for appropriate delegation of duties and workload within the Directorate, ensuring duties are carried out to the agreed standards. He/she will provide advice and support on aspects of clinical and managerial issues.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has approximately 4500 births per year. Maternity Services are provided over 3 sites with environments including home, freestanding birth centre, alongside birth centre and obstetric labour ward. We have increased the number of pools to 3 and offer a bereavement room and an enhanced environment for both women and staff. At the Royal Glamorgan Hospital there is a free standing midwifery led unit offering a home-like, tranquil and supportive birth environment. Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend is a Level 2 Maternity Unit providing low-risk women the opportunity to labour and birth in our alongside Midwifery Led room, Bluebell Suite or in our Birthing Pool.
All staff new to the Health Board are offered a well-established induction programme and there is opportunity for continuous CPD, e.g. Newborn Examination, Neonatal Advanced Life Support, regular study days on Water birth and increasing normality. PROMPT courses are part of the annual multi-professional mandatory training programme.
