Health and Safety Advisor
On behalf of our Client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, MPA Recruitment welcomes suitable applications for the role of Health and Safety Advisor in the Newtownabbey area.
Location: Cloughfern Avenue, Newtownabbey
Hours of work: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm)
Salary range:£18.72
Your Duties:
* Promoting Health & Safety Awareness: Support the organisation in embedding Health & Safety Policies and Procedures while monitoring implementation across local teams.
* Workplace Inspections & Audits: Conduct workplace Health & Safety inspections and audits. Produce detailed reports and corrective action plans using agreed methodologies, promoting best practice and continual improvement.
* Audit Support: Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide timely and accurate information for Health & Safety-related audits.
* Training Delivery: Develop, deliver and review internal Health & Safety awareness training aligned to learning objectives, policy, legislation updates, and accreditation standards.
* Risk Assessment Support: Assist staff and managers in completing statutory risk assessments including General Health & Safety, COSHH, Manual Handling, DSE, Noise, Vibration, New & Expectant Mothers, and First Aid.
* Performance Monitoring: Maintain records and statistics to meet key performance indicators. Provide accurate data for reports and compliance reviews.
* Professional Advice & Recommendations: Use your expertise to advise management on dangerous conditions or situations requiring immediate action.
* Legislation Guidance: Provide clear interpretation and application of relevant Health & Safety legislation as it relates to staff, buildings, and activities.
* Communication & Resources: Create Health & Safety bulletins, guidance notes, alert notices, and contribute to internal communications such as “Safety Matters.”
* Staff & Union Liaison: Offer expert Health & Safety guidance to employees and trade union reps. Ensure specialist queries are handled effectively.
* Incident Investigation: Oversee incident reporting and investigations in line with policy, ensuring timely responses and actions to prevent recurrence.
Your Profile:
* NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (Level 3).
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within a construction, engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice

* A Basic Access NI Check is Required at a cost of £16.
