We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled public health officer/ analyst to join our multi-disciplinary Public Health Division within the largest Local Authority in the country. This is a 12 months fixed-term position, which is part of the Inclusion Health Team within the Healthy Behaviours and Communities sub-division, with a particular focus on developing a comprehensive health and wellbeing needs assessment and addressing the health needs of the city’s vulnerable migrant populations. About Us The Inclusion Health Team’s mission is to reduce health inequalities affecting vulnerable groups in the city by influencing and working with partners across the council and externally, including academics, the Integrated Care System, housing and homelessness, justice, migration and the third sectors. The team you will be joining are engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of work, including developing an understanding of needs and barriers faced by the most disadvantaged populations. We aim to generate high-quality evidence and use it to drive action, developing innovative, evidence-based resources and interventions that improve public health outcomes and reduce health inequalities. Our work often gains local and national recognition. The Role This role will specifically focus on the effective delivery of an upcoming Vulnerable Migrant Health Needs Assessment. You will play a key role in consolidating, generating, interpreting, analysing and synthesising local service data and public health evidence through data and evidence reviews, multi-methodology research and engagement with local services and communities, creating insight and co-producing robust recommendations and action plans that respond to identified needs of vulnerable migrant populations in Birmingham. You will be responsible for creating engaging reports and visual outputs from the needs assessment, and planning their effective dissemination across the system. Drawing on your public health research expertise, needs assessment experience and project management skills, you will work across organisations and sectors, coordinate activity and influence work to improve health outcomes for vulnerable migrants who often face significant barriers to accessing mainstream services. Skills & Experience This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who: is familiar with principles of public health research and has experience of delivering robust needs assessments is able to analyse, interpret and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data from a wide range of sources has experience of working with a range of stakeholders in the delivery of public health projects, including needs assessments understands the role of public health in the inclusion health agenda, particularly in relation to vulnerable migrants has excellent organisational skills and is able to work independently in a dynamic and evolving environment to achieve expected outcomes and deliver quality outputs has strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in writing briefings, reports, needs assessments, project plans.
